"Jordan Dawson's Customized Football Boots Bestow Superpowers upon Marcus Rashford and Darwin Nunez"
Someone should be thanked for a significant number of Liverpool and Manchester United goals this season.
Jordan Dawson is his name. He is not a member, coach, or fan of either team.
Jordan, on the other hand, has provided Darwin Nunez and Marcus Rashford with classified weapons.
The skilled 28-year-old London artisan customizes football boots for a number of Premier League stars – and his clients can’t stop scoring.
“I’ve had a lot of messages from people saying my customised boots give players special powers,” Jordan told talkSPORT.com.
“I gave Rashford boots before the World Cup, and he hasn’t stopped scoring since.”
“I gave Nunez boots, and he hasn’t stopped scoring despite struggling at the start.”
“I then gave [Heung-min] Son and Emerson [Royal] boots, and they both scored against West Ham on the same day.”
.
.
“Everyone was messaging me, saying, ‘Are you sure you don’t give them superpowers when you make the boots?'”
In reality, Jordan possesses the only true superpower, and his gift is recognized throughout the sporting world.
After winning an award in 2017 for a drawing of UFC icon Conor McGregor, the artist was given the opportunity to collaborate with boxing sensation Anthony Joshua to create a five-a-side football pitch in Shoreditch.
Jordan went on, “While I was at university, I made a checklist of three things I wanted to do in my art career.” One was working with Anthony Joshua, another with Chelsea, and the third with Eminem. Anthony Joshua and Chelsea have been crossed off my list.
“I did a portrait for Joshua three years before the EA Sports shoot, and I didn’t think he’d remember me.” Since then, he’s met tens of thousands of individuals. When I stepped in, he asked, ‘Jordan – how are you?’
.
“That was at the beginning of my career. It was a huge surprise to me that he remembered me.”
However, it was West Ham and England midfielder Declan Rice who provided Jordan with his big break.
Jordan was awarded his first design campaign by Nike after years of being neglected and toiling in the retail industry.
This led to the creation of customized trainers for Rice and his England teammate Mason Mount, among others.
Jordan took advantage of interactions with more famous figures in the football world as a result of his work on FIFA 20.
“I reached out to Rice about a month later on Instagram,” he continued. ‘Hey bro, don’t know if you remember me, but I’d like to talk about customizing your boots,’ I said.
“‘Give me a call,’ he urged. I called him and we talked about everyday issues as well as the design he desired. He was my first major client, and after he shared it, everything else followed.”
With footballers uniformly clad in club uniforms, Jordan’s personalised boots offer a rare opportunity for individual expression.
.
When he delivered Nunez’s footwear to the Liverpool star’s house, he felt a sense of pride and identity.
“They get given stuff all the time,” he explained. “This means more to them. It allows kids to express themselves while playing in their boots.
“I went to Nunez’s house with him, and he kissed the Uruguayan flag.” You could see that meant a lot to him. He doesn’t speak great English, so communication was difficult, but you could see his face.
“As soon as he held them, there was a gleam on his face.” You really can’t top seeing their emotion in person.”
So, who comes next? Jordan supports Chelsea, and Graham Potter’s team has struggled for goals this season…
“I’ve worked with Mount with Chelsea, and I’m hoping to work with Joao Felix,” he stated.
“I’m currently in contact with Michy Batshuayi of Besiktas and Rafael Leao of AC Milan.” Although I enjoy performing the Premier League, I believe that going global would be even more rewarding, and why not?
“I’ve got a few big players lined up, so there should be some exciting stuff coming up soon.”
