"In the Last Moments: A 5-Year-Old's Heartfelt Farewell to Their Mother as They Ascend to the Divine"

Amber Schofield, 24, and Ben Proctor are the brave parents who decided to share with the world how the light of their 5-year-old son, Charlie, has been fading since he was diagnosed with hepatoblastoma, a rare tumor that originated in the liver, two years ago.

After being unable to overcome the tough battle with cancer, the mother shared the heartbreaking farewell after doctors had given him only 366 hours to live last month. The last goodbye that the little boy gave to his mother, as well as the entire course of his illness, was shared by Amber on the Instagram account called “Charlie’s Chapter,” and his final words have touched millions of people.

The couple, originally from Accrington, Lancashire, England, had launched a fundraising campaign because the only way to save his life was through a liver transplant. Their plans were to travel to the United States, but unfortunately, despite the solidarity of thousands of people, including the singer Pink who donated $12,000 for the surgery, they did not raise the necessary amount. They only managed to gather 50% of the hefty sum they needed, which was over $1 million. Every effort seemed in vain due to the short time Charlie had left. And so, with the anguish of not being able to finance the much-needed transplant, his mother posted their last photo together along with the heart-wrenching words directed at the little boy:

“Mom, I’m sorry for this.”

“Last night, at 11:14 pm, my best friend, my world, Charlie, took his last breath,” wrote Amber.

“He peacefully fell asleep in my arms, with dad’s arms wrapped around us. Our hearts are hurting. The world has lost an incredible little boy.”

“Charlie, you gave me the chance to be a mom. You have been not only our greatest inspiration but an inspiration to thousands of people around the world. You showed me what Charlie truly means. Now is the time to fly. I am so, so proud of you. You fought for this. My baby, it hurts so much. I will miss you forever.” The grieving mother wanted to share her pain and frustration, as she believes that no child should feel the emotions Charlie experienced after telling her that he was “tired and depressed.” “No child! No parent should have to witness them deteriorating like this; it’s the most painful thing!””He no longer looks like my Charlie; he is so thin that I can see and feel every bone in his tiny body, his sunken face, his blank eyes,” she wrote.

Amber took the opportunity to urge parents to cherish their children’s lives: “Hold your babies tight and cuddle and kiss them a lot. You don’t realize how lucky you are. We all take life for granted.”

However, she did not hesitate to condemn the National Health System, designed only for the rich. “This is where the road ends for them, and as a mother, it’s hard to accept that my child will die simply because we are not wealthy enough to save him.” “Cancer is a game for rich men. The more money you have, the more likely your child will survive. How is that fair?… It makes me sick that he may die because we are not rich. It makes me feel so powerless!” she concluded.

What a tragedy! It is heartbreaking that a child and his family have had their hope stolen from them because they cannot afford the treatment.

Fly high, Charlie! Let’s share this news and send a message of solidarity to his parents, strength in these difficult times.
