Gentle Giant: 125-Pound Dog Takes on Role of Baby's Perfect Walking Companion for First Steps.

Drax is a Cane Corso. He was just 8-weeks old when his family got him. At the same time, his mother also found out that she was pregnant. So with time, as her belly grew in size, Drax started spending more time with his mom.

He would sit on his mom’s lap and lay on her stomach, always being very gentle with her. When she gave birth to a baby boy, Drax would observe the new family member from a distance. The mother focused on early socialization and desensitizing.

Drax loved to be beside the little baby all the time. His favorite pass time was observing every move of the baby. The new parents tried teaching their son how to roll. However, Drax rolled over to show the baby how to do it.

Drax used to be right beside the baby every time he hung and jumped in his little jumper. The two soon became inseparable. Drax reached his full size when the baby was a year old. The baby boy learned to walk early, thanks to Drax. He wanted to keep up with his dog friend.

Although Drax was a giant, he always thought of himself as a tiny lapdog. On his birthday, the child got a ball pit where he used to play with Drax. The baby would stuff Drax’s mouth with plastic balls, of which some got destroyed.

The family used to visit the park where Drax always went crazy. He would slide down and run through tunnels, thinking that the park was made for him. Then Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus paid the baby and Drax a visit during the baby’s first Christmas. The dog got very excited to meet the couple and was more of a fan of Santa than the baby.

Drax changed his mom’s perspective on how beautiful dogs can be. She started believing that a child can learn a lot from dogs. The two grew up together and became the best pals.
