Breaking News: Cristiano Ronaldo Welcomes New Teammate as Alex Telles Departs Man Utd in a Surprising £4m Bargain Deal

Cristiano Ronaldo’s former teammate Alex Telles is about to join him at Saudi club Al-Nassr.

The left-back, who has long been unnecessary at United, will join the lengthy list of players who are leaving European clubs for the Middle East this summer by signing with the Saudi Pro League club for a bargain £4 million ($5.2m).

Telles, who spent the 2022–23 season on loan at Sevilla, was acquired by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for £15.4 million ($20 million) during the summer 2020 transfer window. Before his performance dipped, Telles had established himself as the team’s starting left-back. After United bought Tyrell Malacia a year ago, he was loaned away.

In the upcoming days, the change will be formally reveαled, and Telles will be introduced as an Al Nassr player. On August 11, a new Saudi season begins.

Manchester United’s Alex Telles ‘in talks with Al-Nassr’ to become the latest name to move Saudi

Alex Telles, a misfit at Manchester United, is on the verge of becoming the newest player to join the Saudi Pro League after starting discussions with Al-Nassr.

The Portuguese left-back spent the previous campaign on loan at Sevilla of Spain, but after returning to Old Trafford, he now appears to be on his way out.

Talks between United and the Saudi team, where Tells would rejoin with former Red Devils teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, who joined the club in January, are reportedly underway, according to The Athletic. Telles made 50 appearances for Manchester United since his £15 million transfer from Porto in 2020, and he scored an own goal in the club’s 2-1 Champions League victory over Villarreal.

The 30-year-old had a successful season at Sevilla, winning the Europa League, but has yet to take the field for a competitive match under Erik ten Hag. A wave of prominent European players have followed Ronaldo, the former United star, in relocating to the middle east when he joined Al-Nassr at the beginning of the year.

N’Golo Kante and Karim Benzema have joined the current Saudi champions Al-lttihad, while Kalidou Koulibaly of Chelsea and Ruben Neves of Wolves have been acquired by Al-Hilal. The Saudi Pro League is still interested in signing Riyad Mahrez from Man City and Fabino from Liverpool.

If Telles does leave Old Trafford, he will join Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe in leaving the team this summer, while Mason Mount has signed a £55 million agreement to join the Red Devils.

As of this week, the transfer of goalkeeper Andre Onana from Inter Milan has also been agreed upon by the two parties.
