Aiding the Growth of Kittens with Crooked Legs: Tiny Casts for Strength and Health.
Kitten Rescue, a charity based in Los Angeles, recently saved six adorable kittens from the East Valley Shelter in Van Nuys. The kittens, Cabernet, Merlot, Pinot, Chianti, Burgundy, and Malbec, were only three weeks old when they were rescued. Upon their arrival at Kitten Rescue, caretakers noticed that the kittens’ front legs appeared to be twisted, so they promptly took them to ACCESS Specialty Animal Hospital in Culver City. This hospital is known for its exceptional bone and joint experts, who regularly provide care for the animals.
It’s a bummer that the little kittens were diagnosed with carpal laxity syndrome, which is usually only seen in puppies. The specialist said they’re not sure what causes it, but they think it might be due to a difference in growth rates between the bones and tendons in the front legs.
Due to the way their front legs developed, all six of these adorable kittens need to wear small casts to ensure proper growth and development. Fortunately, these furry little creatures are in good health overall. Though they will need regular check-ups and extra attention until they are able to move around freely, they are expected to make a full recovery.
The caregivers shared on their Facebook page that the litter of cats they have under their care are super cute and affectionate, and they hope they can provide them with a nurturing environment where they can thrive. Despite how adorable they are, they still need to find new homes soon.
