A Tale of Hope and Healing: The Remarkable Surgical Separation of Conjoined Twins

A Tale of Hope and Healing: The Remarkable Surgical Separation of Conjoined Twins

Rich Fay begins his pre-season diary in Japan and South Korea, covering the Blues’ tour.

Hello from Japan. City’s summer tour begins in Japan’s scorching heat. The sticky humidity drains you instantly and soaks your clothes like you fell into the Manchester Ship Canal.

Maybe that red-faced sweat was the result of a grueling voyage with more turns than a City championship race.

Before you start playing small violins and pitying an entitled journalist lamenting about their dream job, there was a positive. After Manchester Airport security, I was upgraded to business class, the best surprise since Manuel Akanji. That uncommon luxury you never expect. Poor me.

It was great. Tunnel Club at 40,000 feet with a “Typical City” twist. An nearly three-hour delay on my connecting flight, bringing the entire journey time close to 30 hours, and the terrifying sight of my work laptop flickering but never connecting to Wi-Fi.

In typical Dubai style, turning on my phone and troubleshooting cost me £45 for 10 seconds of data.

City don’t arrive in Tokyo until Thursday night local time, so I have most of a day to fix those technical concerns and be ready for commercial operations by the end of the week.

Day two involves a Japanese hardware store and extensive Google translating.
